After two enforced fallow years, music fans in the UK are already looking forward to Glastonbury Festival 2022. The Somerset festival which takes place on Worthy Farm, in Pilton is widely considered the world’s best music festival. More than just music though, the combination of visual art, politics, performance art and a strong message of loving the planet and each other makes Glastonbury a Mecca for over 200,000 music fans, misfits and mash-heads every June.
The 2020 festival got as far as announcing its lineup – Paul McCartney, Taylor Swift and Kendrick Lamar on headline duty – before it was forced to cancel due to the global pandemic. It was said the festival would go ahead in 2021, but in January of 2021 Emily Eavis was forced to confirm another year’s cancellation. The 2020 festival was set to be huge and packed full of surprises to mark Glastonbury’s 50th anniversary. No doubt when it returns in 2022, it will be the mother of all parties (and then some), but until then, here is everything we know so far about Glastonbury Festival 2022.
When will Glastonbury Festival 2022 take place?
Glastonbury Festival will next take place between 22-26 June 2022.
Will my 2020 Glastonbury Festival tickets still be valid in 2022?
Yes. Festival boss, Emily Eavis, confirmed that those with a ticket to the 2020 festival will be able to carry over their deposit and will automatically be granted a ticket for 2022. There is also the option to get a refund if you are no longer able or want to attend.
The full statement from the festival read:
“As with last year, we would like to offer all those who secured a ticket in October 2019 the opportunity to roll their £50 deposit over to next year, and guarantee the chance to buy a ticket for Glastonbury 2022. We are very appreciative of the faith and trust placed in us by those of you with deposits, and we are very confident we can deliver something really special for us all in 2022!”
If you would like to receive a refund without incurring any cancellation fees, you can do so, up to 31st December 2021, using the online form here.
After December, you can still cancel but you will be subject to cancellation fees.
Who will headline Glastonbury Festival 2022?
Billie Eilish is the first headliner to be announced for Glastonbury 2022. Emily Eavis and Billie Eilish simultaneously announced her headline status on October 4th, making her the festival’s youngest ever headliner.
Paul McCartney and Kendrick Lamar have been confirmed as the second and third headliners for 2022, a repeat booking from 2020.
Who else is on the lineup for Glastonbury Festival 2022?
So many people! Diana Ross will play the Legends slot on Sunday afternoon. Lorde is going to inject a dose of Solar Power into the weekend. Mercury Prize-winner Arlo Parks will bring her hazy alt-pop to the farm along with a string of acts we’re very excited about. St Vincent! Little Simz! Phoebe Bridgers! Mitski! Self Esteem! Clairo! See the full lineup below.
Can I buy a ticket for Glastonbury 2022?
Not at the moment – but get ready. There will be some resale tickets up for grabs from those that haven’t paid the full ticket price by 7 March. The resale of these tickets will reportedly happen on the morning of 27 March. Set a reminder – they’ll go quickly.
Those that are looking for coach packages will also have a chance to get resale tickets earlier, on the evening of 24 March. People looking to get their hands on resale tickets will need to be registered, which can be done at glastonbury.seetickets.com/registration.
How can I register to buy a Glastonbury ticket?
Registration is quick and easy. Just visit the Glastonbury registration site, upload a recent photo, input some details and wait for your photo to be approved. Registration must be completed before you can buy a ticket in the re-sale and it’s worth doing in plenty of time. Registrations pre 2010 will need to be done again. And if your appearance has dramatically changed since you last registered, it’s worth uploading a new photo to avoid any difficulty at the gates.
I already have a ticket. When will I need to pay in full for my Glastonbury ticket?
The full price of your ticket will need to be paid in April 2022. Glastonbury have not currently announced how much the tickets will be for 2022 but the price is likely to go up from the £265 (+£5 booking fee) for 2020. The full price will be announced before the end of 2021 so you will have time to cancel your ticket and get a full refund (without paying fees) if it’s too much for you.
Why is Glastonbury so special?
There is truly nowhere on earth like Glastonbury Festival. It’s hard to put into words why Glastonbury is so special if you haven’t seen it for yourself, but just trust us – it is so much more than a music festival. It is the best nightclub you’ve ever been to. It’s the most relaxing yoga session you’ve ever attended. It’s a gathering of the greatest, happiest people on earth all brought together with the sole purpose of having a good time. It’s brilliant music, it’s art and creativity. It’s thick mud and blazing sun. It’s warm tinnies and half-collapsed tents. It’s the hedonism of the south-east corner and nursing your hangover in the healing fields. It’s The Park stage, packed on a sunny day and fireworks over The Pyramid. It’s heading down the rabbit hole and meeting your friends by the rainbow tower. It’s big issues in the Leftfield and high wires in the Circus Field. And it’s truly worth every single penny – whatever the price.
