Disruptive music commentary, through a different lens
The Forty-Five is new music publication, created by a collective of female-led music journalists, creatives and photographers, founded by former NME Editor, Charlie Gunn.
Why The Forty-Five?
With only 14% of music journalists identifying as women, music, for too long has been critiqued from a male perspective. The result? An industry that champions boys in bands and sexualises female artists. We’re here to change that by forging a supportive network of womxn, who tell stories about music.
Who are The Forty-Five?
Former NME editor and pop culture journalist, Charlie Gunn, has united a team of the best female music and culture creatives from around the world. Through in-depth interviews, quality op-eds and curated playlists, The Forty-Five provides fans with the most exciting, original content about their favourite artists.
At a time when the music industry needs something to celebrate, The Forty-Five is an exciting new player in the world of quality music journalism.
How to support The Forty-Five
The publishing industry is challenged with ad revenues dwindling and skilled journalists – true experts in their field – being forced to work for peanuts. If you like what we do, please help support The Forty-Five’s existence by considering becoming a patron with a monthly subscription. In return we’ll offer you exclusive content and all sorts of goodies.
