Britney Spears has shared her feelings on the recent Framing Britney Spears documentary, saying she “cried for two weeks” about it.
The film explored the pop star’s career and conservatorship issues, speaking to former friends, colleagues and fans about her journey.
Posting on Instagram last night (March 30), Spears acknowledged the documentary but said she hadn’t watched it. Despite that, she said that “from what I did see of it I was embarrassed by the light they put me in”.
“I cried for two weeks and well … I still cry sometimes!!!!!” she added.
Earlier in the post, which featured a video of her dancing in her home, she spoke about how her life has “always been very speculated … watched … and judged really my whole life!!!”
“It takes a lot of strength to TRUST the universe with your real vulnerability cause I’ve always been so judged… insulted… and embarrassed by the media… and I still am till this day!!!!”
She finished the post by telling her followers that she isn’t “here to be perfect … perfect is boring … I’m here to pass on kindness!!!”
Spears’ life has been controlled by a court-ordered conservatorship since she suffered mental health issues in 2008. Her father, Jamie Spears, is co-conservator with the Bessemer Trust, as of November 2020.
The pop star recently launched a bid to get her father removed from the conservatorship, requesting that Jodi Montgomery replace him. Montgomery was made temporary conservator in 2019 when Jamie Spears went through a period of ill health. The same documents requesting the removal of the singer’s dad also state that she “expressly reserves the right to petition for termination of this conservatorship”
A court hearing is scheduled for April 27, where the future of Spears’ conservators could be decided.
