Is Taylor Swift’s new song about her breakup with Joe Alwyn?

A sad song from Taylor Swift.

Not content with filling stadiums around the world with her Eras Tour, Taylor Swift has just dropped a brand new song – and fans think it’s about her break-up with actor, Joe Alwyn.

The sad track, entitled ‘You Are Losing Me’, was released as a bonus song on the new ‘Late Night Edition’ of her hit album, ‘Midnights‘ which is available exclusively from the Taylor Swift online store. A digital release of the new album edition will set you back $5.99.

The track seemingly details the breakdown of a relationship and comes after it was confirmed last month that Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn had ended their six-year relationship.

The song seems to give an insight into the end of the relationship, featuring the lyrics, “And I wouldn’t marry me either / A pathological people pleaser/ Who only wanted you to see her

VERSE 1

You say “I don’t understand” and I say “I know you don’t”

We thought a cure would come through in time, now I fear it won’t

Remember looking at this room, we loved it ’cause of the light

Now, I just sit in the dark and wonder if it’s time

PRE-CHORUS

Do I throw out everything we built or keep it?

I’m getting tired even for a Phoenix

Always rising from the ashes

Mending all her gashes

You might just have dealt the final blow

CHORUS

Stop, you’re losing me

Stop, you’re losing me

Stop, you’re losing me

I can’t find a pulse

My heart won’t start anymore, for you

‘Cause you’re losing me

VERSE 2

Every morning I glared at you with storms in my eyes

How can you say that you love someone you can’t tell is dying?

I sent you signals and bit my nails down to the quick

My face was gray but you wouldn’t admit that we were sick

PRE-CHORUS

And the air is thick with lies and indecision

I know my pain is such an imposition

Now you’re running down the hallway

And you know what they all say

“You don’t know what you got until it’s gone”

CHORUS

Stop, you’re losing me

Stop, you’re losing me

Stop, you’re losing me

I can’t find a pulse

My heart won’t start anymore, for you

‘Cause you’re losing me

‘Cause you’re losing me

Stop, ’cause you’re losing me

POST-CHORUS

My heart won’t start anymore (Stop, ’cause you’re losing me)

My heart won’t start anymore (Stop, ’cause you’re losing me)

BRIDGE

How long could we be a sad song

‘Till we were too far gone to bring back to life?

I gave you all my best me’s, my endless empathy

And all I did was bleed as I tried to be the bravest soldier

Fighting in only your army, frontlines, don’t you ignore me

I’m the best thing at this party (You’re losing me)

And I wouldn’t marry me either

A pathological people pleaser

Who only wanted you to see her

And I’m fading thinking

“Do something, baby, say something” (Say something)

“Lose something, baby, risk something” (You’re losing me)

“Choose something, baby, I got nothing” (I got nothing)

“To believe, unless you’re choosing me”

More ‘Midnights’ re-releases dropped this week. The ‘Til Dawn’ edition of the album, also only available in Taylor’s online store, features a new version of ‘Karma’ with an added verse from rapper Ice Spice. It also includes an updated version of ‘Snow On The Beach’ which famously included a Lana Del Rey feature that you could barely hear. This one promises “More Lana Del Rey”.

The Ice Spice collab has caused some chatter online. Recent reports suggest that Taylor Swift is dating The 1975‘s Matty Healy who back in February, was heard on a now-deleted episode of The Adam Friedland Podcast laughing along to racist remarks about Ice Spice.

Last night, at Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in New Jersey, the superstar brought out Ice Spice to join her on stage. There certainly seems to be no bad blood between the pair.
