It’s been six months since Boygenius gifted us with one of the best albums of the year in ‘the record’, but already they’re coming back with more.
The boys – aka Phoebe Bridgers, Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus – have just announced a surprise new EP called ‘the rest’, which will arrive on October 13, via Interscope. While it won’t be quite as many songs as their debut album, it will include four brand new tracks to keep us going for the rest of 2023.
The full tracklist has yet to be confirmed, but expect it to feature ‘Black Hole’, the fresh cut the trio debuted at their Boston gig last night (September 25). The EP was produced by Boygenius, Tony Berg, Jake Finch, Ethan Gruska, Calvin Lauber, Collin Pastor and Marshall Vore and, according to a press release, “continues to showcase the band’s songwriting prowess and distinct sound”.
‘The rest’ will be available on limited edition yellow 10” vinyl, CD and, of course, all streaming platforms. You can pre-order and pre-save it here now.
Boygenius are currently on tour in the US so keep an eye out for more new tracks being previewed as they continue their trek across the country. The tour continues on Thursday (September 28) in New Haven, CT, with further dates in Philadelphia and New York.
On Halloween, the boys will get spooky at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl for a special show, where they’ll be joined by 100 gecs and Sloppy Jane. We’re expecting some great coordinated costumes from the trio.
In our five-star review of ‘the record’, The Forty-Five wrote: “‘The Record’ is a celebration – and a worthy reminder to treasure our friends, because they might just be the ones that last a lifetime.”
