Robyn – ‘Dopamine’
Pioneering dance producer and vocalist Robyn made her dynamic return this week with new single ‘Dopamine.’ Released on Wednesday, the track is her first solo single since 2019. Sonically, ‘Dopamine’ is a heady, euphoric rush of upbeat synth-pop. On a deeper level, it perceptively criticises the way that intense, complex emotions are boiled down to biological data in the modern age. We’re praying for an album and live shows in 2026.
Ms Banks – ‘4C’
South London-based rapper and former Forty-Five cover star Ms Banks’ new single is a power anthem dedicated to the beauty of natural Black hair. The track opens and closes with audio clips of a salon appointment, in which the stylist affirms, “Baby, you’ve got to be proud of your crown.” Over a supercharged bass beat, Ms Banks’ quick-witted lyrics explore the paradox in beauty ideals that uplift Eurocentric norms while simultaneously adopting aesthetics rooted in Black culture.
Veps – ‘Didgeridoo’
Oslo-based quartet Veps’ musical style? Wise, wistful indie rock that offers intellect without ever compromising on catchiness. The prolific band’s output has been flowing steadily since 2021, with two albums and a stream of singles under their belt. New track ‘Didgeridoo’ is built around buzzy, blurring guitars and biting lyrics that sharpen up the band’s character. With an infectious, hummable chorus, the song is the perfect cure for winter blues.
Lime Garden – ‘Maybe Not Tonight’
‘Maybe Not Tonight’ is an audacious track that takes no prisoners. The Brighton four-piece are entering a new era with a bolder, brasher sound packed with bite and attitude – which suits lead singer Chloe Howard’s vocals immaculately. With a pulsing beat, fuzzy distortion, clashing guitars, and hedonistic lyrics, the band are leaving vulnerability behind them and owning their narrative.
Cofidence Man – ‘Damaged Goods’
Confidence Man have surprised us this week with a brand new, tropical house-adjacent single. The Australian electropop duo have announced they will round off 2025 as a career-defining year with the release of a final EP, ‘Active Scenes Vol One,’ dropping on December 8. If lead single ‘Damaged Goods’ is anything to go by, the EP will be packed with punchy dancefloor hits.
