Former President, Barack Obama, has released his annual list of favourite songs – and a fair few of our top tracks made the cut.

Our song of the year, Mitski‘s ‘My Love Mine All Mine’, was featured on the playlist along with Beyoncé and Kendrick Lamar’s ‘America Has a Problem’, Blondshell‘s ‘Joiner’ from her self-titled debut album and Big Thief‘s ‘Vampire Empire’ to name but a few. See the full list below.

Culture Vulture Obama also released a list of his favourite books and movies of 2023. Among the reads, featured Philippine journalist Patricia Evangelista’s powerful ‘Some People Need Killing’ and Lauren Groff’s novel, ‘The Vaster Wilds’

However, the Barbie mania of the summer clearly passed Obama by as the record-breaking film didn’t make the list of his favourite movies, instead favouring flicks produced by his and wife Michelle’s production company, Higher Ground.

While most artists see a nod from Obama as a welcome endorsement, this summer, Lucy Dacus was less than impressed when Obama shared a boygenius song as part of his summer playlist, tweeting simply: “War Criminal :(“
