'She Will' is an understated but powerful protest song

The overturning of Roe v Wade affected us all in different ways. Some felt angry, others devastated. And for many female-identifying artists, they felt a need to create. Protest music comes in many forms and for Californian singer-songwriter and producer Moira Mack, her feelings manifested themselves into ‘She Will’, a soulful statement of intent.

Of the track, Moira told us: “We live in a time of short attention spans and even shorter tempers. Global leaders wage wars on social media and rage bait pays the bills. Unfortunately, this is not a “kumbaya” song meant to help us get along. Instead, ‘She Will’ is an anthem to outlast any TikTok trend or politician’s term. Written on the day Roe v Wade was overturned, the song is a declaration: the war for women’s rights did not begin yesterday and it does not end tomorrow. We carry a torch lit by those who fought before us and we fight for the generations to come – change is inevitable.”

‘She Will’ was born from grief but has grown into something powerful. Mack debuted the song last month with an all-female ensemble to a reverent audience in a packed church at London’s first SXSW. The song is the second single from her upcoming EP, ‘Money & Cars’.
