Grab your gardening gloves, because Lucy Dacus is back with her first new single of 2026. The upbeat ‘Planting Tomatoes’ is a track about living life to its fullest. Listen to the song below.
Queen of the existential bop, ‘Planting Tomatoes’ encourages us all to stay present and appreciate the little things in life – because one day we’re all going to die. Though hopefully, not yet! It’s the first new music we’ve heard from Dacus since 2025’s ‘Forever Is A Feeling’: a series of unabashed love songs about finding her person. Read our interview with Lucy around the release.
‘Planting Tomatoes’ is a standalone release, originally pressed as a 7″ for Record Store Day on April 18th and now released on streaming platforms. The lyric video was recorded in a Tokyo stationery store, which reminds us of the time we found this doodle on a notepad in a stationery shop in LA. LOL at Julien being the size of an ant.

Dacus will head out on a North American tour later this year. For the run of shows, she’s partnered with the Ally Coalition to donate one dollar from every ticket sold to organisations supporting young queer and trans people.
