Women In Jazz have confirmed details of a new digital platform called Uncovered.
Launching today (February 8) with a live performance and accompanying video interview from soul star Celeste, Uncovered is a YouTube series that is set to address the lack of female representation in jazz music.
Each episode will feature the aforementioned performance and interview, alongside artist images shot on 35mm film. Jazz drummer Jas Kayser, who released her debut EP ‘Unforced Rhythm of Grace’ in June 2020, will be the subject of the next video. Watch the first show below.
Louise Paley and Nina Fine of Women In Jazz established Uncovered with the intention of showcasing female talent to a global audience. In a statement, Paley said: “We believe that celebrating the talents of women will help inspire the next generation of Artists. Our new digital platform champions the top female talent in Jazz, exploring their artistry through live performance and storytelling”.
Meanwhile, Celeste’s ‘Not Your Muse’ topped the Official Albums Chart on February 5, making her the first British solo artist to reach number one with a debut LP in five years.
