Baby Queen has shared the video for her new single ‘These Drugs’.

The star – whose real name is Bella Latham – released the track at midnight, saying that she didn’t think she would be “allowed to release it or that releasing it would be a particularly good idea”.

I don’t wanna do drugs anymore/ If you saw me through the eyes of a bathroom stall, your skin would crawl/ I’m high,” she sings on the sombre pop song. “It’s louder than a cry for help when I destroy my mental health/ Because I really hate myself.”

The video sees Latham crying in a graffitied toilet cubicle and wandering through a room of colourful and psychedelic artwork. Watch it below now.

In a note posted on her social media accounts, Latham explained more about the story behind the song, saying that she felt it was “really important” so she knew that “I had to share it with you”.

“I was in a very bad place at the time… very depressed and convinced I wasn’t a good person and didn’t deserve good things,” she wrote. “Life is different now. I’m happy. I’ve learnt that the antidote to my misery is gratitude and caring about myself even when I don’t want to, until it becomes a habit.”

She continued: “It’s natural to look for escapism but there’s more freedom in working to build a life you like… and by that I literally just mean learning to love yourself. You, with all your scars and all your regrets, are home to an actual life!

“You’ve got to invite the sad parts of yourself in to have a tea party with you. Don’t ignore them and cover them up. If you don’t look at them, they’ll make themselves seen. You are so worthy of love and I hope that if you don’t see that yet, you will learn to in time.”

‘These Drugs’ follows Baby Queen’s recent single ‘Raw Thoughts’, which was released earlier this year.
