Coachella 2025 has begun with Lady Gaga, Green Day and Post Malone topping the three-day bill in the Indio desert. And for anyone making the long drive from LA or even Palm Springs to the festival site, you will, as has become customary, be treated to some excellently on-brand marketing from the lineup’s biggest names.
The festival’s desert billboards have become viral moments in their own right, getting thirstier by the year (thanks, Sabrina Carpenter).
This year’s stars have not been shy with their erections. From Tyla to Charli XCX, there’s plenty to gawp at on the long road to ‘Chella (this year some guests have reported waiting for 12 hours to get in) but are any of them laugh-out-loud funny? No, not really. We’re intrigued by Charli’s. Tyla looks hot. But next year: please try harder.
Charli XCX
Charli is in her thespian era and she’s currently filming the Aidan Zaimiri-directed A24 movie, The Moment. The idea behind the film was Charli’s own and is loosely based on her own experience (pop star makes it big). Do these billboards suggest that her Chella set is going to be done in character? We had been crossing our fingers for Brat Summer 2.0 but perhaps instead we’ll get a live trailer of her upcoming movie. Here’s hoping for the former.
Clairo
Clairo got cutesy with her billboard teasing her Saturday set.
Tyla
With a body this banging, why say more? Riffing on her hit single, Water and the very real need to stay hydrated in a literal desert, Tyla knows what’s up.
Lady Gaga
It’s only appropriate that Gaga splashed the cash for her second Coachella headline slot. Buying not one but three billboards, the Little Monsters will be beside themselves.
Laufey
Laufey leans into the perpetual mispronunciation of her Icelandic name for her Coachella billboard. We’ll save you the bother: it’s Lay-vay.
LISA
From Phuket to Palm Springs, Lisa teases her latest album ‘Alter-Ego’ in her desert ad.
