Charli XCX has made no secret of her ambition to make moves in the movies. Already securing a role in Gregg Araki’s soon-to-be-released I Want Your Sex, she has now reportedly been cast in Romain Gavras’ upcoming flick, Sacrifice.

Charli will star alongside friend and collaborator Yung Lean – making his acting debut – as well as Hollywood favourites, Anya Taylor Joy, John Malkovich, Vincent Cassell and One Day’s Ambika Mod.

The movie is a satirical reinterpretation of Joan Of Arc’s story, with Taylor Joy playing Joan, who attempts to save the world from an evil volcanic spirit, with the help of a gang of mystical mates. Like Charli herself, it sounds like it will be full of surprises.

You might know Gavras’ directorial work from Jamie XX’s cinematic video for ‘Gosh’.

As we move from Brautumn into Brinter, Charli XCX is showing no signs of slowing down. Straight off the back of the SWEAT tour with Troye Sivan in the US, she is gearing up to embark on the BRAT UK arena tour which kicks off in Manchester on 27 November. With Filming for Sacrifice already underway in Greece and Bulgaria, only a 365 Party Girl could manage such a hectic schedule.
