Hot to Go! How to beat the heat at Daisy Chain Fields

It's going to be a scorcher! Here's what to take to make your festival experience as magical as possible

It’s less than a week until Olivia Rodrigo‘s inaugural festival, Daisy Chain Fields takes up residence in Irvine’s Great Park. The festival has seemingly come together fairly quickly, with Rodrigo only announcing it two months ago. With a killer all-female lineup featuring Chappell Roan, Bikini Kill, Rachel Chinouriri, Katseye and special appearances from Stevie Nicks and Sarah McLachlan, tickets unsurprisingly sold out in just 30 minutes.

The Forty-Five will be on site reporting on all the fun, but after a sweltering summer in Los Angeles and Orange County, we are a little concerned about how to keep cool in a shadeless park for 12 hours without missing any of the action.

The key is to come prepared – and be sensible. The acts alternate throughout the day at different stages which should hopefully prevent fans camping out for long stretches at a singular ‘main stage’ barrier. The festival site is reportedly quite small, so if you do need to take time out, you’ll be able to make it back to the music in no time at all.

Southern California is under extreme heat warning so wear sunscreen, stay hydrated and look after each other – even if it means not being front row for your favourite act. There will be hydration stations with free, cool, filtered water and cooling stations placed all around the venue.
