Following on from her groovy Saturday Night Live performance in the US, St Vincent has released the video for her new single, ‘The Melting Of The Sun’ – watch it above.

The track is the second single from St Vincent’s upcoming album, ‘Daddy’s Home’ and matches first track, ‘Pay Your Way In Pain”s 70s aesthetic.

With a video by St Vincent and director Bill Benz (Portlandia), it’s another trippy visual that sees Annie Clark as a retro, floating face on top of a ball of sun. Has the grown-up identity of the Tellytubby baby finally been revealed?

The video’s animation is inspired by Schoolhouse Rock – a 70s Saturday morning kids’ educational cartoon series. St Vincent’s new album takes from this period in her life, when she was a child living with her father, whose release from prison was the inspiration behind ‘Daddy’s Home’. From the louche suits Clark has been sporting to the music itself, we are loving this new era of St Vincent.
