We’ve been following buzzy Los Angeles garage-pop band, The What Four, for a little while now – their live shows are a lot of fun – and today they drop their first music video for single ‘Nowhere Blues’, shot in Los Angeles by indie film director Julius Charles Ritter. Watch it below.

The What Four formed in 2024 and first caught our attention with their mesh of 60s girl group harmonies and gritty guitars. The band is made up of frontwoman Katie Stratton, guitarist Ryan Ratfield, upright bassist Jeff Roffredo and drummer Marc Orrell, best known as a former member of the Boston Celtic punk band Dropkick Murphys. Molly Madden and Tara Morris provide backing vocals.

“We were raised on strip malls, sunburns, and big dreams that barely left the suburb,“ says lead singer Katie Stratton of the single, “This song was meant to capture the feeling of a long hot summer and the restlessness of growing up in the valley.”

“‘Nowhere Blues’ was my attempt at creating a Springsteen character who doesn’t yet know that there are several roads going out of town”, adds Ryan Ratfield.
