Is Taylor Swift starring in ‘Deadpool 3’? Her latest NFL visit might have the answer

The pop star cheered on Travis Kelce at Sunday’s Chiefs vs Jets game

In the last week, Taylor Swift has become both the cheer captain and on the bleachers as she seemingly embarks on a new relationship with Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce. The NFL is feeling the Swiftie effect in full force – sales of Kelce’s jersey skyrocketed after she attended her first Chiefs game, while rumours she was heading to MetLife Stadium saw Jets ticket prices – and sales – surge.

Her latest football outing might point to things heating up in Swift’s personal life, but it could also hint at something massive coming in her professional world too. The pop star was filmed entering MetLife Stadium on Sunday (October 1) with besties Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, Reynolds’ pal and Deadpool 3 co-star Hugh Jackman, plus the film’s director, Shawn Levy. Seems innocent enough, right?

Last month, rumours started circulating that Swift herself would enter the MCU and appear in Deadpool 3 as Dazzler, a superhero who is also a pop star. It’s a role that – obviously – suits Taylor down to a tee and would be a huge coup for Marvel if the reports are true. If Swift’s association with one football player can boost the NFL, then imagine what an appearance from her in a film could do for the studio’s box office takings.

Swift hanging out with Reynolds isn’t enough to ramp up the rumour mill, given their long-documented friendship. But the addition of Jackman and Levy is getting both Swifties and Marvel fans excited again – are they simply tagging along to watch some football or do these companions suggest superhero Swift is really on the way?

Whatever the answer, we’ll probably have to wait some time to find out – Deadpool 3 is currently scheduled to premiere on May 3, 2024. Reynolds will reprise his role as the titular character, while Jackman will play Wolverine.

In the meantime, Taylor has plenty of things to keep us busy. There’s the ‘1989 (Taylor’s Version)’ release in October, while fans are already looking ahead to a possible announcement for ‘Reputation (Taylor’s Version)’. ‘The Eras’ tour is coming to cinema screens worldwide and will also resume its massive trek around the world in the coming months, expanding Swift’s economic impact to cities across the globe.
