Olivia Rodrigo has launched a worldwide treasure hunt that will see fans searching independent record stores for one of just 333 limited-edition LEGO vinyl records.

The singer unveiled the challenge after making a surprise appearance at legendary Los Angeles record shop Licorice Pizza on Monday (July 27), where 100 fans and select media – including The Forty-Five – were invited to an intimate event celebrating her upcoming LEGO Editions collection.

Over the next fortnight, Rodrigo and LEGO will share clues across their social media channels revealing the locations of the hidden brick-built vinyls, with fans racing to track them down using the hashtag #AStoryInEveryPiece.

The launch transformed the Studio City record store into a giant LEGO installation. More than 110,000 bricks were used to recreate the space, including a life-sized version of the moon from Rodrigo’s ‘GUTS’ World Tour stage show. Standing 2.42 metres high and built from more than 77,000 bricks, the installation became the backdrop for a fan Q&A, with attendees travelling from across the US, Canada and the UK to be there.

In answering fan questions, Olivia revealed that she is most excited to play The Cure live at the upcoming Daisy Chain Fields, her female-focused music festival in Orange County next month. “I have something special planned for that one – but I’m not saying what it is.”

“Getting to watch everyone explore the LEGO Editions sets today and discover their favourite details was amazing,” Rodrigo said. “We wanted to create something that felt different and something my fans could be part of. Kicking it all off at Licorice Pizza made it even more memorable. It was such a fun way to celebrate the collaboration with the LEGO Group.”

The hunt ties into the launch of the new LEGO Editions Olivia Rodrigo collection, a series of five sets inspired by moments from across Rodrigo’s career, spanning ‘SOUR’, ‘GUTS’ and new album ‘you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love’. Developed with Rodrigo herself, the sets feature references to her music, performances and some of the visual motifs that have become synonymous with her world.

The LEGO Editions Olivia Rodrigo collection launches worldwide on August 1, while clues to the locations of the 333 hidden collectible vinyl will continue to drop via LEGO and Rodrigo’s social channels over the coming weeks.
