It looks like Clairo has finished her third album

We last heard from the singer-songwriter on 2021’s ‘Sling’

It looks like new music from Clairo could be on the horizon soon following the singer-songwriter’s latest Instagram post.

The indie star last released an album in 2021 with ‘Sling’, the follow-up to her 2019 debut ‘Immunity’.

Earlier this year, Clairo hinted that we could be hearing her third record, captioning an Instagram post: “Maybe next year [musical note emoji].” Over the weekend, she shared a photo of her playing the flute in front of a rainbow. In the caption, she shared a combination of emojis – a 3, a checkmark and a purple heart. Cryptic, but we’re hoping it means album three is complete.

This isn’t the first time Clairo has posted about playing the flute. In January, she shared a photo of her looking lovingly at a donkey, instrument tucked under her arm. “I played flute for a donkey,” she wrote. Colour us even more intrigued where this record is going.

In a four-star review of ‘Sling’, The Forty-Five said: “‘Sling’ might make for an initially challenging listen: less immediate than previous records, it’s designed to be consumed as a whole, but its seemingly unchanging tempo can make that tricky. Yet the album reveals more of itself with each spin, like a shyly flamboyant bird.

“Little changes make themselves known – choppy jazz, creaking acoustics, the kind of piano confessionals heard in an after-hours bar – and the small-scale hops reflect the album’s gentle yet bold leap forward. A sling carries babies or injured limbs. But it’s also a catapult. A weapon.”
