It’s been a cracking year for music and this year’s Grammy nominations are a reminder of all the great albums and tracks that have dropped in 2023.
boygenius will be celebrating a momentous year, with seven Grammy nominations in total – a first time being nominated for members Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus. Taylor Swift and Olivia Rodrigo are tied with six nominations each and Lana Del Rey has been nominated for five awards this year.
Now in its 66th year, the Grammys honours songs and albums released between October 1, 2022 and September 15, 2023.
The awards will take place on February 4th 2024 at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena (formerly the Staples Center) and will be aired live on CBS and Paramount+ in the US.
The Recording Academy has made its stance on Artificial Intelligence clear, dictating that “only human creators are eligible to be submitted for, considered for, nominated for to to in a Grammy Award. A work that contains no human authorship is not eligible in any categories.”
Two Barbie soundtrack songs have made it into the Song Of The Year category, capping off a record-breaking year for Greta Gerwig’s movie.
The nominations are fairly diverse this year but it’s a shame to see that no women have made it into the categories for Best Rap Album or Best Dance/Electronic Album.
