Bibi Club – aka Adèle Trottier-Rivard and Nicolas Basque — are the blissfully off-kilter duo who’ve been turning DIY beginnings into one of Quebec’s most exciting new sounds. With their new album ‘Amaro’ on the way and a run of live shows lined up, they’re deep in a moment of growth, reflection and creative buzz. So who better to show us around the streets, spots and small joys that shaped them? From late-night haunts to nature escapes, this is Montreal the Bibi Club way.

If we were going to Montreal for the weekend, where should our Airbnb be?

Well, Airbnb is not really legal in Montreal. So we’d recommend finding a hotel close to the mountain. The Mont-Royal is a beautiful park to walk at any time of the day. You can even take a detour by the cemetery and pay homage to Leonard Cohen.

What are the sights we should definitely see?

Parc Frédéric Bach is incredible, it’s like walking in a Tarkovsky movie. We live close by and often spend time over there. Sometimes in the summer, people organise a DIY party with generators in that park. We’ve played one of those during the pandemic.

What’s the best bar in Montreal (and what’s good about it)?

Starbar on St-Laurent. Humble, great cocktails, great vibes and they have a counter of the best pizza in town (Pizza Bouquet). It’s also near a lot of concert venues. We recommend their dirty Martini. It’s also a great place to go read a book or write.

What’s your favourite Montreal venue to play in?

Sala Rossa is pretty magical. It’s been around for a long time, it’s a perfect size and has a lot of spirit energy. It sounds great and the location is perfect. We’ve played a few times at Sala Rossa, it’s always a positive evening and a great hang after the concert.

We’re hungry. Where shall we go for something to eat?

Pichai is one of our favourite restaurants for a night out. Thai food, spicy and unique. Or their other place Pumpui for lunch. We had our team Christmas Party at Pichai with our friends/managers Mischa & Carmel last year.

Where’s the best place to buy some swag?

Friperies renaissance are fantastic to find some used clothes and full of surprising items. That’s where we get most of our clothes and give the ones we don’t wear anymore. They have a few locations in Montreal.

Bars are closing… where to next?

You can just walk anywhere in the streets of Montreal. It’s safe for everyone and it’s beautiful when the sun wakes up. Again, you can climb the mountain and watch the sunrise with the raccoons and the squirrels.

What’s the best thing about your city?

The people, the community. It’s a welcoming city, with great music scenes. It’s easy to meet other artists and start projects. It’s been harder since the pandemic for venues but there are still a lot of DIY promoters and great artistic festivals and initiatives that survived, like Suoni Del Popolo, Ok là , Pop Montreal…

‘Amaro’ is out on February 27 2026.
