‘Be Sweet To Me’ is heavily influenced by 80s and early 90s alternative music. Speaking about the music that inspired the record, Grohl says “There’s something so powerful about that period of music, from the messaging to the visuals, it’s authentic and raw.”

In particular, she credits Pixies, Soundgarden, Cocteau Twins, The Breeders, PJ Harvey, The Muffs, Björk, Alice in Chains, L7, and Juliana Hatfield, saying “I’ve listened to that stuff since I was a kid.”

The album was recorded at producer Justin Raisen’s LA home studio. The musicians who collaborated on the album were carefully selected in an attempt to replicate the atmosphere of the Wrecking Crew session players from the 60s and 70s.The album’s latest single, ‘595’, is a gritty track inspired by a vintage t-shirt advertising a phone sex line.

A new music video for the single, directed Nikki Milan Houston, accompanies its release.

Grohl has also been announced as a performer at this year’s Shaky Knees festival in Atlanta, on September 12th.
