Ever since Lorde performed some unreleased songs during her festival sets last summer, we’ve been dying for the Kiwi pop star to drop the details about her fourth album. If the internet rumour mill is to be believed, though, we could have just got a little bit more info about that hugely-anticipated record.
Eagle-eyed fans spotted Blood Orange’s Dev Hynes posting a new photo with Lorde on his Instagram Story yesterday (March 4). Judging by his other stories, the pair appear to be in Paris – but is it for a casual fashion week hang between friends or to work on new music together?

This isn’t the first time it’s been speculated that Lorde is teaming up with Dev on her next project. She was spotted at his tiny Blood Orange gig at New York’s Baby’s All Right venue in 2022 and has been hanging out with him since 2021 – around the same time, she was also spotted going in and out of studios in NYC.
In more connecting the dots, some fans have pointed out that Jim-E Stack, who Lorde is also speculated to be working with, is a good friend of Hynes’. Lorde has also been recommending Dev’s music in her email newsletter to fans, alongside that of some of his other collaborators. Is it all a big coincidence or a collection of hints at the team behind ‘L4’?
Whether the big Lorde x Blood Orange team-up comes to fruition or not, here’s hoping we get some concrete news about Ella’s next album soon. In the meantime, dive deeper into the gems she’s given us so far with our picks of Lorde’s most underrated songs.
