St Vincent is teasing her next album ‘Daddy’s Home’ with a series of posters.
The record will be her first studio album since 2017’s ‘MASSEDUCTION’, although she has released a stripped-back, piano-led take on that record (2018’s ‘MassEducation’) and a remix album (2019’s ‘Nina Kraviz Presents Masseduction Rewired’) since.
The posters, which fans have snapped on the street, show St Vincent in a dark red suit, with white heeled boots and a blonde bob. “Who’s Your Daddy?” they read. “St Vincent is back with a record of all-new songs.
“Warm Wurlitzers and wit, glistening guitars and grit, with sleaze and style for days. Taking you from uptown to downtown with the artist who makes you expect the unexpected. So sit back, light up, and by all means have that bourbon waiting, because… DADDY’S HOME.”
According to the posters, which also feature an inset of what appears to be the album’s artwork, the record will be out on May 14 via Loma Vista. It will be available on vinyl, cassette, 8-track and more.
After fans started sharing the posters online, St Vincent tweeted: “Nothing to see here.”
Late last year, the musician – whose real name is Annie Clarke – spoke about the album, confirming it was “locked and loaded for 2021”.
“[It’s] a tectonic shift,” she told MOJO at the time. I felt I had gone as far as I could possibly go with angularity. I was interested in going back to the music I’ve listened to more than any other – Stevie Wonder records from the early ’70s, Sly And The Family Stone. I studied at the feet of those masters.”
Clarke also teased that the record would “tell these stories of you being down and out, down on your luck.”
