To mark International Women’s Day this 8 March, The Barbican is hosting ‘in her words’: a show celebrating the music of amazing female singer-songwriters with performances from Madison Cunningham (with full band), TYSON, Tawiah, Tara Lily and Rosie Frater-Taylor.

Showcasing the breadth of female talent from a rising generation, Cunningham is joined on the night by the soulful and experimentally boundless, singer-songwriter TYSON, named ‘Breakthrough Act of the Year’ 2022 at Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide Awards; progressive R&B artist, writer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Tawiah, who has collaborated with the likes of Dev Hynes, Kindness, Mark Ronson, Cinematic Orchestra and Kano; British-Bengali South Londoner Tara Lily, Motown UK’s first British signing whose music draws on a spellbinding mix of alternative R&B, jazz, Indian classical and traditional Bengali folk music and 23-year old guitarist, singer-songwriter Rosie Frater-Taylor who played over 60 shows across Europe last year to promote her critically acclaimed album ‘Bloom’.
